Kill It With Fire 2: They Did It Again

That’s right, the team that brought you a video game about killing spiders in your house is back at it and it’s even crazier. I would think that gamers might be skeptical that there needs to be a sequel to the nearly perfect Kill it with Fire which was released in 2020 but this new entry is the pure chaos we need. While I was able to get my hands on the solo campaign for a brief moment the heart, hilarity, and anarchy of Kill it with Fire are still present with an even bigger twist. Jumping right into Kill it with Fire 2 you can expect to see a similar house in the prologue but you are going to go places, outer space places. With the main setting being in an abandoned space ship it becomes your duty to exterminate spiders all in different dimensions. Things are quickly amped up to 11 with the introduction of new weapons and spiders. Just based on the few hours of solo play I squeezed out of the demo I can say Kill it with Fire 2 is going to be a blast.

For those who are unfamiliar with the original Kill it with Fire there is not much to explain, you are exterminating spiders by any means necessary. With household items like a clipboard, vacuum cleaner, shoe (if you are dedicated enough) to firearms, and explosives. Spiders can be very frightening so thought of using anything to kill them makes for a fun and irreverent game. There is a story that goes along the lines of you are trying to get to the bottom of the infestation and you are traveling through town. What Kill it with Fire 2 does differently is that locations and areas are blocked off until you claim enough of the resource needed to unlock them. With a steady progression you can move through at a generous pace, or you can be like me and task yourself to become the savior of all space time through killing spiders. Either way there is plenty to do and plenty of ways to do it.

Just in the demo the number of new weapons increases from the original and the same can be said for the spiders. Onboard the giant spaceship things quickly escalate as the final frontier is not safe from spiders, especially those which can change shape. Imagine my surprise and utter terror when I went to collect a brand new laser pistol only for it to reveal itself as a morph spider. This was not the first time it would happen either. As an enhancement to Kill it with Fire 2 the number of quests you can engage in increases. Moments later after burning down half the gym/ dining area I started to collect dumbbells and then it happened again, attempting to pick one up and it became a morph spider. I was less surprised but just about as mad that I had been tricked twice. In this sense I didn’t feel so bad when I proceeded to finally find the laser pistol and start shooting the hell out of many of the objects in this room. Another item worth mentioning is the spider potion. Yup, you can now turn into a spider for a limited time which helps when you need to reach some difficult spots where jumping as a human does not help.

From the spaceship you will be able to travel from dimension to dimension at your whim so don’t feel bad about missing anything. Kill it with Fire two feels like the aim is to have you explore, try different things and eventually come back to the areas so you can clear them out. While in the demo they flaunt rooms that require the unlockables to reach, they make it feel like it’s attainable. Even if you are excited about the single player I can also tell you that the multiplayer content promises to be fun. We did do a beta breakdown, video over on Youtube, of the new Kill it with Fire 2 team based multiplayer where its spiders versus exterminators. There are plenty of explosions, terror, and just plain fun to be had in the upcoming installment of this series and I hope that even if you don’t like spiders that you are willing to try out Kill it with Fire 2!
